Vegan Chili Garlic Tofu
- 1 pack tofu
- 2 tbsp corn flour
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp Simba Mbili black pepper ground
- 2 tbsp oil
- 1 tsp ginger, chopped
- ½ tsp Simba Mbili garlic powder
- 1 tsp garlic chopped
- ½ cup onion, diced
- ½ cup red bell pepper, diced
- ½ cup green bell pepper, diced
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp tomato ketchup
- ¼ cup corn flour slurry
- 1 tbsp sesame seeds
- 1 tbsp cilantro
- 1 tbsp spring onion
- Cut the tofu into cubes.
- Sprinkle the corn flour, salt and black pepper powder over the tofu and toss around to coat well.
- Pan-fry the tofu over medium heat in a non-stick pan with some oil until golden brown and crisp on all sides.
- Once the tofu is cooked, set these aside.
- In the same pan and oil, add ginger, garlic. Sauté for a few seconds.
- Then add onion, red & green bell pepper. cook until aromatic.
- Add soy sauce, tomato ketchup, corn flour slurry (mix 1 tbsp corn flour in a 1/4 cup water) and garlic powder. Mix everything well.
- Add in the pan-fried tofu. mix well.
- Leave to cook for 1-2 minutes until the sauce glazes the tofu and then turn off the heat.
- Finish the tofu with the sesame seeds, cilantro and green onions.
- Mix and then serve.
