Chicken makhani (butter chicken)

½ Kg chicken cubes

Marinate for chicken:

  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon simba mbili garlic powder
  • ½ Teaspoon simba mbili ginger powder
  • 1 teaspoon simba mbili red chilli powder

Gravy:

  • 2 red onions finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon simba mbili garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon simba mbili red chilli powder
  • 4 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons brown vinegar
  • 5-6 chopped tomatoes
  • Handful cashew nuts
  • Salt to taste
  • ¼ Teaspoon simba mbili garam masala
  • 2 tablespoons cooking cream
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • Dried fresh fenugreek (methi)
  • Mix the ingredients for the marinade and add chicken cubes. Marinade the chicken for ½ hour or more.
  • Heat oil in a saucepan and fry the marinated chicken.
  • For the gravy, heat oil and butter in a sauce pan, then add onions and let cook. Add little water and cook for a while. Then add salt, cashew nuts, garam masala and cook for half an hour. Once the gravy is cooled, grind and sieve to make a smooth gravy.
  • Add the cooked chicken in the gravy and cook for a while.
  • Add cream & butter and sprinkle dry fenugreek (methi).
  • Serve hot with bread, chapaties or naan.
