Chicken Biryani
INGREDIENTS FOR TEMPERING
- 1 Tablespoon oil
- 1 Tablespoon butter
- 2-3 Cinammon Sticks
- 4-5 Pieces Cloves
- 5 Pieces whole Black Pepper
- 1 Teaspoon Cumin seeds
INGREDIENTS FOR SEASONING
- 4 red onions, long sliced
- 1 teaspoon Simba Mbili garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon Simba Mbili ginger powder
- 1 teaspoon green chillies crushed
- 1 ½ teaspoon Simba Mbili turmeric powder
- 3 teaspoon Simba Mbili Dhana Jeera powder
- 3 tablespoon tomato paste (cerio)
- 5 – 6 tomato purée
- water
- 1 full chicken cut into pieces without skin
- 4 – 5 potatoes peeled and cut into big pieces.
INGREDIENTS FOR BIRIYANI :
- 1 Cup uncooked rice
- 1 Tablespoon oil
- 1 Teaspoon cumin seeds
- Pinch of Saffron
- Salt to taste
INGREDIENTS FOR GARNISHING
- 1 Sliced red onion fried
PLAIN YOGURT
- Heat oil and butter in a sauce pan and add ingredients for tempering. Add onion and sauté until golden brown.
- Add garlic powder, ginger powder, green chilly paste, turmeric powder, dhana jeera powder, tomato paste and water. Let it boil and add tomatoes purée.
- Add cut chicken and potato pieces and let it cook.
FOR BIRIYANI
- Soak the rice for 5 minutes in cold water. Drain the water.
- In a pan add soaked rice and clean water. Boil the rice on medium heat and drain the water once the rice is cooked.
- In a separate sauce pan heat oil, add cumin seeds and the cooked rice. Add a little saffron and salt to taste.
- In a serving dish layer rice, then the cooked chicken. Alternate the layers with chicken and rice. Garnish the top with sliced fried onion .
- Serve hot with plain yogurt.
